One thing I want to improve is posting when I have work published elsewhere. Of course, you can always check out the Published tab.
By highlighting new work in these posts, I want to provide direct access, additional insight into my writing process, and an open discussion forum!
I wrote this newest piece, Cowboy Coffee and Campfire, on request for the new Grand Canyon Youth (GCY) blog, The Ripple Effect.
GCY is an educational non-profit based in Flagstaff, AZ that “provide[s] youth (ages 10–19) an experiential education along the rivers and canyons of the Southwest in an effort to promote personal growth, environmental awareness, community involvement, and teamwork among people of diverse backgrounds.”
I was first a participant on the program’s river trips in 2009. It gracefully directed my life path to studying environmental science and geology in undergrad and grad school, working as a professional river guide, and learning how to have the most fun :). YAY SCIENCE!
This piece is a memory of river nights, of river mornings, and of river times yet to come.
